ABOM will finally be returning to its roots – a World Ranking Event competition in Winter – and this will be the perfect event to prepare for the 2025 season.
We believe that Aguiar da Beira and ABOM offer the best preparation for a National Team Athlete to get ready for WOC 2025 in Kuopio, Finland.
We have highly technical terrains, with stunning pine forests, extensive bare rocks, and numerous rocky details. However, we share even more similarities with Kuopio 2025!
The mappers for ABOM 2025 are Janne Weckman and Timo Joensuu, the same mappers as those in Kuopio!
Additionally, we enjoy favorable weather conditions for winter training. The likelihood of snow here is very low, and when it does snow, it typically melts within a few hours.
Moreover, the ABOM 2025 competitions will take place on the same map used for JWOC 2022 Middle and Relay events.
Following the success of those remarkable competitions in November 2022, we eagerly anticipate seeing world-class athletes compete here once more.
ABOM 2025 will feature four races, including two IOF World Ranking stages and one PreO competition. Additionally, ABOM 2025 will contribute to the Portuguese Foot-O and PreO Ranking.

The Aguiar da Beira Municipality, Ori-Estarreja, and Oriented Aguiar are the primary organizers of ABOM 2025, in collaboration with the Portuguese Orienteering Federation and the International Orienteering Federation.
